A plan for X (formerly Twitter)? unprompted response? The effort to merely raise people's blood pressure? Only time will tell. The only thing we know for sure is that today's post on the platform hinting at the probable removal of the block feature received a response from X's owner.
Except for DMs, Block will be removed as a "feature," Elon Musk wrote. It "makes no sense." The tweet was in response to a question from a Tesla fan account on whether or not block should be used in place of mute.
Many users view blocking as a safety feature, therefore when it was suggested that it would be replaced by the service's old verification mechanism, there was criticism from worried users.
Twitter states on its help page that it "gives people a variety of tools to control their experience, including blocking." By blocking certain accounts, people can prevent them from being contacted, reading their Tweets, or following them. On Twitter, you can still block accounts (including those who have blocked you), even if one of them has blocked you.
Although Mute may still exist, the features have changed. Block prevents other users from contacting, viewing, and following a certain account. Simply said, mutes the stream of your posts. The fact that a user has been muted is not disclosed to them. The block feature will still be available for direct communications, says Musk.
